Resurrection Park: Live Once Again 678px-Geological_time_spiral
Extinction is the end. Or so we've been told.

A discovery has been made, rifts in time have been opened and its a race against time to understand their nature. But where there is chance, there is opportunity, a machine has been created that can access the rifts and create rifts to an ancient time.

An experiment has begun,

One that could very well save us all.

This is the story of Resurrection Park.

Located in the heart of central florida a critical facility is working round the clock to investigate time rifts and recover extinct species using the time rifts to access the past and bring back target animals for study.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again NZAP6jv

Resurrection Park: A Place For Second Chances
Located in the rural region of Marshland Valley, Florida, Resurrection Park was a joint government, public funding and private sponsor investment to create a next generation Zoological facility built to house and study animals that could be potentially displaced by the time rift distortions. After some success it was decided to expand the park into a de-extinction facility expanding its operations after the successful invention of the Rift Gate system which allows teams to enter and return to the time rift without fears of getting lost in time.

The mission of Resurrection Park is simple collect and study extinct animals and determine the best course for viably supporting wild breeding populations in an effort to restore Earth's damaged ecosystem. Massive funding and support has been added to Resurrection Park to support this mission alongside public tours for donations and allowing the public to ensure the welfare of all the facilities animals.

Park Staff
Resurrection Park is staffed by a dedicated and professional staff who make it their mission to ensure the welfare and well-being of any and all animals found within the park. They a placed into specialized teams whom each perform a critical mission to ensuring the safety and well-being for humans and animals alike within the park.

Management Team: The Management team are often regarded as playing the "boring' role at the park. But they preform the critical duty of maintaining public relations, communicating with sponsoring governments and organizations along with overseeing daily life and matters within the park.

Caretaker Team: Caretakers are the home guard of the park they are burdened with the difficult task of assessing and caring for the many species that live within the park. Constantly working with various species from across time and determining their health and welfare Caretakers are the lifeblood of the park.

Ranger Team: One of the most famous and well know teams within the staff. Rangers are in charge of park security and safety regarding animals ensuring there are no breakouts or escapes from the park. But they also have what most consider the more fun job of venturing back in time on expeditions to collect new animals. Rangers are trained to expect the unexpected and be prepared for any situation they may encounter.

Science Team: The science team are the researchers of the park. A crack team of scientists from various professions and backgrounds whom work tirelessly to study the animals of the park and record the nearly daily findings for both research purposes and for the welfare of the animals within the park. They also accompany the Rangers back in time to document, record and study.

Park Facilities

Resurrection Hub
The heart of the park, the Resurrection Hub is a large multipurpose building where park staff and visitors gather. The Science Team's main laboratories are here along with quarantine facilities for new animals. Just outside of the Resurrection Hub is the Rift Gate itself which is contained in a deep trench with a roof that goes up an incline this serves as both as a way to prevent escapes and can be flooded to allow for the recovery of aquatic animals.

The Arena
The exciting name of the Arena is an area well known for where visitors can view animals in smaller enclosures up close and personal. Despite the name the Arena also serves a scientific purpose it is used as a temporary keep for new species that have been collected and past quarantine are kept for observation by Caretakers in an environment where they can quickly be collected and taken indoors in case of emergencies or health issues. Animals aren't kept in the Arena long though some species which do well with human interaction nay be brought to the Arena where they can be showed off for demonstrations.

The Ranch
The Ranch is a massive behind the scenes facilities which almost looks more like an aircraft hanger than a Zoo enclosure. It is a contained space where animals who need observation or require indoor keeping are kept after a busy day outdoors. The ranch is carefully monitored and enclosed with careful movement of animals and humans alike. It also contains medical facilities for animals where veterinarians in the Caretaker staff work closely with medical scientists to preform surgical work in case of emergencies.

Inner Worlds
Inner Worlds is a specialized facility that manages the smaller animals of the park. A combination of a Herpetarium, Insectarium and a Zoological sanctuary for small animals that require more specialized conditions or do not require a lot of space are kept here where a team of caretakers and scientist spend their days working round the clock to ensure that every animals needs are met. Public tours are allowed within Inner World but only in certain sections with species caretakers are certain that human exposure won't cause stress or unnecessary risk.

Pressure House
Near Inner Worlds is the Pressure House. Earth's atmosphere was not always the same as it is now and while some animals can adapt to the changes in the atmosphere some animals require more extreme measures such as animals from the Carboniferous period and other early periods in earth's history. The Pressure House has multiple enclosures and is designed to be expanded in case new animals require quick housing with different adjustments made to their enclosures in case of emergencies. Because of the sensitive nature of the Pressure House only limited tours are allowed with carefully guided visitors who are closely watched to prevent accidents.

Abyss View
Abyss View is a bit down the road and rest at the coast of Marshland Valley's beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Abyss View is a massive ocean side Aquarium where aquatic and amphibious species both freshwater and saltwater are kept in large spacious enclosures that can fit them and suit their needs. There are even a few massive outdoor enclosures which are placed in the sea and surrounded by massive walled gateways where larger animals can peacefully swim in enclosures suited for their size in the ocean without fear of escape. Visitors are allowed to tour all across Abyss View and there are even boat tours of the larger areas where safe.

Sky Haven
Sky Haven is a massive aviary where large flight capable animals are allowed to spread their wings and fly without risking escape. There are both cared areas and a larger netted air range where animals such a birds, pterosaurs and other flying animals can attain flight before being guided toward the ground. Inside there are simulated environments which replicate their traditional homes where they're allowed to roam. Visitors are permitted but must stay within a glass hallway which runs a circle around the facility.

Mesozoic Reach
Mesozoic Reach is an expansive area where the dinosaurs of the park are kept is specious open enclosures that are suited to their needs after observation. Here dinosaurs can roam free and live among their kind if they're a social species in a stimulated environment that replicates their home as closely as possible. Most large predators are kept in their own enclosures along with less social herbivores but a few species that tolerate the presence of others such as herding animals and smaller carnivores are allowed to live in shared safari areas where they are observed by a careful staff of rangers and caretakers.

Cenozoic Steppe
Near Mesozoic Reach but higher up the valley in a contained region is Cenozoic Steppe. This is an expansive area where animals from the post Mesozoic are kept in outdoor enclosures with protocols similar to Mesozoic Reach. However there are a few specialized facilities such as trench enclosures with an environmental cooling systems put in place to allow animals from colder climates such as ice age animals to thrive in the warm Florida environment during the height of spring and summer.

Paleozoic Swamp
Much like its other two facilities. Paleozoic Swamp is an outdoor region where animals from before the dinosaurs that can survive in the modern atmosphere are given their own outdoor enclosures. It is located in a swampy region of the valley where the humid conditions are more suited for the animals there. Because of the mud and high waters keepers often rely on boats and helicopters to travel for animal monitoring but there are facilities with bridges around to navigate.

Marsh's Wild Safari
Marsh's Wild Safari is a public tour service provided to visitors who wish to see the outdoor enclosures. A specialized team of guides drive visitors in enclosed trucks through the different outdoor zones to view each and every enclosure and then go through a tour of the safari areas. Animal interactions are kept to a minimum but there are a few select animals and areas where interaction time is allowed with a ranger present. Boat tours for the Paleozoic Swamp and Abyss View are provided.

Titan Island
Titan Island is a large island that rests in the middle of a large lake just off the shore from Mesozoic Reach. It is a area fully dedicated to visitors in order to secure further money for the park, hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues and even some park rides are all present on the island where guest enjoy all the comforts of a modern theme park with the added bonus of being able to see dinosaurs in the distance as Titan Island is located near the sauropod range and the long necked dinosaurs can be viewed making their way through the forest on occasion.

Resurrection Hall of Science
The Hall of Science is a large museum located near the docking area that leads to Titan Island. It is a large museum dedicated to paleontology and time rift science. Here those curious about the discoveries of the field teams along with how they operate can find a constantly growing collection of materials from field observation footage, complete skeletons of prehistoric animals found off dead animals, records of historic areas and other vital information that the park has discovered. It also sells a massive number of souvenirs regularly one of the most popular being dinosaur teeth.

Nest Base
Near the Resurrection Hub is a large facility which looks like a mixture of a village and a military base. This is Nest Base where staff at Resurrection Park live, rest, relax and then prepare for work. There are large personal quarters where staff stay to rest and retire when off duty along with larger private homes for full time staff who live within the park. There are restaurants, recreation centers and there are practical facilities such as a garage and a heliport for helicopters to launch from. Nest Base is busy 24/7 as staff move in and out on rotation.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Sun Jun 14, 2020 3:38 am

Species: Tyrannosaurus rex
Era: Late Cretaceous
Appearance: Tyrannosaurus rex looks about as imagined it would from modern paleontology, a large predator whose females stand 13 feet tall at the hip and 40 feet long with their males standing 10 feet tall at the hip and 35 feet long. They have limited feathers on the back of their necks with wing-esque feathers over their tiny arms. Males are a bright green color with black or red feathers while females are a dull brown color with red feathers. Their chicks are covered in downy grey feathers.
Diet: Carnivore (Frequently fed high amounts of poultry and red meat to try to simulate a natural diet)
Social Behavior: Highly social but picky. Tyrannosaurs live in mated pairs who mate for life, with their packs operating like wolf packs where the pack is made up of their offspring. However, mates will fight much like Lions and Lionesses do if pushed to it and offspring will have in-fighting.
Threat Assessment: High
Enclosure Type: One of the largest in the park, the T.rex enclosure is a wide open plain with a central forest to provide shelter. There is a wide and deep trench to separate the Rex pack from the rest of the park. An artificial river flows through it as well to allow the Rexes to bath or drink.
Management Difficulties: Rexes, from their nature as carnivores, are very aggressive animals to outsiders. This makes veterinary care difficult and any vet care must be done in their enclosure while they are sedated and quickly. Their large size makes transporting them also incredibly difficult. As mentioned under social behavior, Rexes frequently have inter-species duels if they get ticked off enough which can lead to injuries. We have also noticed that Rexes prefer their privacy, especially females with chicks. This can lead to stress that must be avoided.
Individuals:
Red Mane-The adult lead male of the Tyrannosaurus pack. Named for his distinctive red mane.

Victoria-The adult lead female of the Tyrannosaurus pack. Named after Queen Victoria in reference to her status as queen.

Dart-The female teenage Tyrannosaurus of the pack, daughter of Red Mane and Victoria. Named after her nature to dart around in excitement.

Chomper-The male teenage Tyrannosaurus of the pack, son of Red Mane and Victoria. Named after the Land Before Time's Tyrannosaurus, Chomper.

The clutch-The clutch of much smaller chicks that are the most recent clutch of Red Mane and Victoria. Not named yet but Gojira or Godzilla is popular for a distinctive grey-scaled chick.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Sun Jun 14, 2020 4:14 am

Species: Triceratops prorsus
Era: Late Cretaceous
Appearance: Looking much like how modern science predicted they'd look, Triceratops are massive herbivores with giant horns and frills that stand 10 feet in height and 30 feet in length. They have massive bumpy scales over their body and keratin covered skulls. In males these skulls tend to be red in color while for females they're a dull blue. Males have bright green scales while females have brown scales. Their calves are brown with yellow heads.
Diet: Herbivore (Palms, Cycads, and Ferns make up the bulk of our Triceratopses' diet. Flowers and fruit are given as treats and for enrichment.)
Social Behavior: Social. Triceratopses live in herds of about 6-11 adult individuals with 3-4 calves, smaller then other Ceratopsians but still a decent size. These herds are usually led by an alpha bull and his favored mate. Males will fight with each other during mating season to attract mates, while usually not violent on occasion accidents can happen.
Threat Assessment: Medium for females, High for males
Enclosure Type: The Triceratops herd is kept with the other herbivores and smaller carnivores in Mesozoic Reach, they tend to favor the forested portions of the enclosure though on occasion they will be seen wandering the open plains or submerging in the river.
Management Difficulties: Males will frequently fight each other for dominance and to attract mates, while this is not dangerous usually injuries can result. As with the other large animals, transportation is very difficult as is interacting with males do to their natural aggression. This requires all veterinary treatments to be done while under sedation and in the main enclosure usually. Females are very protective of their calves and will charge if they feel they are threatened. Males are also very protective of their herds leading tour vehicles to have to keep a sufficient distance. One male individual in particular is ostracized from the herd with the exception of his mother.
Individuals:
Broken Horn-Leader of the Triceratops herd, named for his broken right horn. Has many scars from fights with other males and carnivores.

Hatcher-The subordinate adult male of the Triceratops herd. Named after the iconic initial Triceratops mount from the Smithsonian.

Ike-Another adult male member of the Triceratops herd. Named in a contest after depending on who you ask, the candy or the video game character. Sometimes called Mike in reference to the runner-up second place name.

Grant-Another adult male member of the Triceratops herd. Named after the Jurassic Park character, Alan Grant.

Half & Half-A peculiar male adult member of the Triceratops herd. Named as a result of testing showing he is a probable hybrid with what was once known as Torosaurus, now known to be a different species of Triceratops. He is ostracized from the herd frequently and has a distinctively smooth frill that's larger then even Broken Horn's with distinct orange patterning.

Sarah-An adult female member of the Triceratops herd. Named after a popular keeper.

Ellie-An adult female member of the Triceratops herd. Named after the Jurassic Park character, Ellie Sattler.

Chiquita-An adult female member of the Triceratops herd. Named after the Banana brand.

Rie-An adult female member of the Triceratops herd with a uniquely red head rather then blue. Named after the suit actress for the Godzilla monster, Baragon in a contest.

Savannah-An adult female member of the Triceratops herd. Named in a contest.

Broadway-An adult female member of the Triceratops herd. Named after the sponsorship of New York state.

Lex-A female calf of the Triceratops herd. Named after the Jurassic Park character, Lex Murphy.

Cera-A female calf of the Triceratops herd. Named after the Land Before Time's Triceratops, Cera.

Topper-A male calf of the Triceratops herd. Named in a contest.

Ralph-A male calf of the Triceratops herd. Named in a contest.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Sun Jun 14, 2020 4:40 am

Species:  Patagotitan mayorum
Era:  Early Cretaceous
Appearance:  Patagotitan are one of if not the single largest animal in recorded history, at maturity they have been recorded at 120 feet though it appears they grow continuously all their life and 130+ feet Patagotitans have been reported by field teams. They have incredibly larger bodies that appear quite fat but are full of muscles and other organs supporting their immense weight along with armored osteoderms descending down their back and tail. They are unexpectedly colorful for sauropods, males are brightly color they have flushed red heads and necks, bright green upper bodies with black stripes and their underbelly is a soft tan color females are slightly more dull in color their upper body is brown with black stripes and their underbelly is a darker tan. Their Podlets are a muddy grey color.
Diet: Herbivore (They will eat nearly any and all foliage preferring tree leaves)
Social Behavior: Patagotitans are social herbivores that like most sauropods as was assumed travel in herds. Patagotitan herds are smaller than other species usually no more than 6 to 8 individuals but they are rather tolerant animals except during mating seasons when they compete for breeding rights. Usually they tend to ignore other animals content to busy themselves feeding.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: Patagotitans like sauropods are kept in the sauropod range safari area, an expansive lowland with a mix of floodplains, lakes and riverways, including the expansive Lake Victorious which Titan Island lays on though it it fenced off. The Patagotitans seem to gravitate toward the especially deep regions of the range where their sheer size keeps them out of the water and they have the most access to vegetation unbothered by the others.
Management Difficulties: Patagotitans like all sauropods the biggest issue in their keeping is the sheer size and dietary needs. While the sauropod range is rich with trees and other plant life needed to feed the giants near constant deliveries of supplements and fallen collected leaves are delivered into massive bins which are strategically placed throughout the range to discourage the urge to migrate which could lead to them attempting to break the security fences to get more food access. While rare fights are also a major concern during mating season, usually during summer, males will engage in displays and face-offs which are not a concern but sometimes rarely fights break out which can be deadly in the wild. Finally a major concern as with all the sauropods is making sure they steer clear of high traffic areas as sauropods will quite often trample other animals absentmindedly which is something even Caretakers must be aware of.
Individuals:

Atlas - Eldest male of the herd and the largest animal in the park at 122 feet in length. Named after the titan due to his size.

Oceanus - Adult Male member of the herd whose recently reached maturity. Known to often challenge Atlas often. Named due to his often being seen standing in deep water.

Rhea - Adult Female and the eldest of the female herd members. Named after the goddess.

Tethys - Adult Female that appears to have recently matured, often catches the eye of Oceanus leading to confrontations with Atlas. Named for her similar enjoyment of water.

Themis - Adult Female member of the herd seems to have little interest in the males and will brush them away  often.

Cronus - Subadult male, presumed to be the son of Rhea and Atlas.

The Podlets - The herd currently has five podlets that have joined it. Currently they are being named but one is anticipated to be named Littlefoot.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Sun Jun 14, 2020 5:15 am

Species: Stegosaurus ungulatus
Era: Late Jurassic
Appearance: Stegosaurus is a massive herbivore with the iconic plated back and four-spiked, known scientifically as thagomizers, tail. They look much like modern science imagined, especially in regards to plate ornamentation. Both sexes are 30 feet in length and are about 7-8 feet at the shoulder. Males are a bright green or yellow color with colorful plates that change color with their mood while females are a duller brown or grey color with plates that only become colorful if their mood changes. Their calves tend to be brown in color.
Diet: Herbivore (Given a wide variety of plants and allowed to graze freely)
Social Behavior: Mildly social. Stegosaurs live in herds of four adults and one calf, with the four adults being made up of two mated pairs. They seem to have a system where one pair has a calf one season and the other pair the next so the calf can receive the utmost protection from both.
Threat Assessment: Medium for females, High for males
Enclosure Type: The Stegosaur herds live in the wide open herbivore enclosure alongside many other Dinosaurs. They tend to prefer the same area as the Sauropods do, frequently being seen along the rivers, lowlands, floodplains, and swamplands often side-by-side with the Sauropod herds. They tend to mostly keep to themselves and aren't aggressive unless their calves are approached or if it's mating season for males.
Management Difficulties: Like all the larger Dinosaurs, the biggest issue with the Stegosaurs is their size. Transportation is difficult and as a result all veterinary procedures are done in their enclosure. Stegosaurs also tend to be cautious and skittish making interaction as a whole potentially dangerous though they seem to relax if they know the keeper or vet with them. Both males and females are highly defensive of calves and if calves get spooked, they are not shy about swinging their massive tails making it important for tour vehicles and guests to keep a safe distance. During mating season males get very boisterous and loud, leading to noise complaints at times as well as heightened aggression towards non-Stegosaurs.
Individuals:
Stephen-One of the two males of the first herd. Named after a keeper.

Steven-The other male of the first herd. Named after Steven Spielberg in honor of his numerous donations.

Stephanie-One of the two females of the first herd. Named after a keeper.

Kate-The other female of the first herd. Named after Kate Capshaw, Steven Spielberg's wife.

Spike-The male calf of Stephen and Stephanie. Named after the Stegosaurus from The Land Before Time, Spike.

Willis-One of the two males of the second herd. Named after Willis O'Brien, stop motion animator of The Lost World (1925) and King Kong (1933)

Wallace-The other male of the second herd. Named after the titular character of Wallace & Gromit.

Anne-One of the females of the second herd. Named after a keeper.

Elizabeth-One of the females of the second herd. Named in a contest.

Silly-The female calf of Willis and Anne. Named in a contest.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Sun Jun 14, 2020 5:17 am

Species: Allosaurus jimmadseni
Era: Late Jurassic
Appearance: Their appearance matches scientists expectations. Allosaurus are large theropods with distinctive pointed pair of horns above their eyes. They are quite large reaching 20 to 30 feet in length, females tend to be larger than males but males have bigger horns. Male Allosaurus have a bright blue upper body with a bright tan underbelly, females are tan-yellow with black stripes both have red horns but males have a brighter shade of red.
Diet: Carnivore (Known for being unpicky eaters they'll eat practically any meat but keepers ensure they feed mostly red meat and poultry, though they have been known to snatch fish from the river and try to snap at wild birds)
Social Behavior: Anti-Social. Allosaurus are naturally solitary animals and avoid the presence of each other besides mating encounters on occasion performing mob hunts to take down large prey like sauropods. Because of this Allosaurs tend to be very territorial and confrontational around other animals.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: Allosaurus are solitary animals and thus need an enclosure to themselves. There are actually two in the park one is the Allo Pit in the Arena which is a large open enclosure with an artificial lake and simulated forest with enough space for an Allosaurus to comfortably roam. The second is an open enclosure in Mesozoic Reach in the Jurassic area, a section of the forest area which is connected to a section of river way across the river from the safari area with space for an Allosaurus to exercise.
Management Difficulties: Allosaurus are naturally solitary so it is impossible to keep multiple Allosaurs in one enclosure this limits the number of Allosaurs the park can safely contain at a time and makes attempts at breeding a risky consideration and for now has been written off. Allosaurus are aggressive predators that will attempt to eat nearly anything they see which includes humans thus they must be tranquilized before any direct interaction. Despite lacking a social nature they require regular stimulus for exercise and wellness otherwise they become bored and restless. Thus far the park has found success by making a large remote controlled car with a model stegosaurus placed on top for the Allosaurus to chase.
Individuals:

Al - Adult Male, first Allosaurus recovered in the park. Has scars from a failed mating attempt currently in the Allo Pit.

Tigress - Adult Female who was recovered as a potential mate for Al, rejected Al's courtship and nearly killed him the two are kept separate. Currently in the open enclosure.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Sun Jun 14, 2020 4:59 pm

Species: Mastodon americanum
Era: Pleistocene
Appearance: Mastodons are a species of hairy elephant relatives. They resemble Woolly Mammoths but have shorter legs and longer bodies and their body more closely like an elephant in profile with long upward curved tusk. They are rather small by elephant standards standing 7 to 9 feet tall at the tallest with males being larger than females. They tend to come in brown, tan and black. Calves take off the color of their mothers but some may take distinct colors.
Diet: Herbivore (Unfussy grazers that before low browsing plants like grass, twigs, shrubs, etc)
Social Behavior: Very Social. Mastodons like all elephant species live in herds, females and calves usually stay in large herds of 10 to 12 individuals while males stay in small bachelor herds usually 4 or 5 at most during breeding season the males will join the females and attempt to court mates.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: Mastodons are kept in fenced off sections of the open safari area of the Cenozoic Steppe they are rather surprisingly quite comfortable in more limited areas. The males and females of the park are separated save for calves with their mothers. Sometimes they are allowed to go into the open safari area with other animals to socialize and interact with other animals but they are closely monitored.
Management Difficulties: In a park with some of the largest animals in the world, Mastodons being a smaller species of elephant are decently manageable. The biggest difficulty with Mastodons is temperature management during the spring and summer, they are sensitive to heat and require careful trimmings even with the cooling systems active. Mastodons unlike many other species of elephant have an instinctive weariness of humans due to hunting by ancient Indigenous Americans thus they can sometimes be more guarded and aggressive around Caretakers and this need to be tranquilized for direct contact.
Individuals:

Grey Hair - Eldest female in the park, matriarch of the female herd. Named for her greying hair in her advanced age.

Thunder Tusk - Adult female daughter of Grey Hair and a dominant figure in the herd. Named by staff for her aggressive nature and large tusks.

Missy - Adult female member of the herd. Named by Florida Governor.

Digger - Adult female in the herd. Named for her fondness for digging.

Sandy - Adult female known for her bright tan hair. Named after a keeper.

Ebony - Adult female known for her dark black hair. Named in contest.

Scrapper - Subadult female, daughter of Thunder Tusk. Named by Caretakers.

Patrick & Patty - Male and Female twins born to Missy, first twins born in the park to a mammal. Named by children's submissions.

Tiana - Female calf daughter of Ebony. Named by sponsor.

Marshall - Eldest Male of the male herd, often still spars with the younger males. Named after Tyson Marshall a deceased park sponsor.

Teddy - Adult Male in the herd known for his bright fur and large tusk. Named after president Theodore Roosevelt.

Knight - Adult Male approaching maturity with slightly greying hair. Named after paleoartist Charles R. Knight.

Bumblebee - Subadult Male that recently joined the herd, son of Sandy and Knight. Named by sponsor.

Crasher - Adult Male with distinctive scars earned from past scraps with predators. Named by Caretakers after an escape attempt.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Sun Jun 14, 2020 5:53 pm

Species: Ceratosaurus nasicornis
Era: Late Jurassic
Appearance: Ceratosaurus are man-sized theropods which can be identified by their distinctive nasal crests. They can reach 10 to 20 feet in length females tend to be larger than males. Males have a white or tan underbelly with black stripes and a flushed red head, females are brown with patches of dark brown stripes and spots. Chicks tend to be a soft green color at birth with black stripes growing into their adult coloration.
Diet: Carnivore (Ceratosaurus eat a rather mixed diet of red meat and poultry along with various servings of fish which is also a part of the diet)
Social Behavior: Semi Social. Ceratosaurus in the wild are usually loners but may at times travel in pairs usually siblings, they also mate for life and mating pairs stick together even when their chicks have grown up and left. Other than that they are aggressive toward each other.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: Ceratosaurus are comfortable in an outdoor enclosure in Mesozoic Reach. It is a trenched enclosure that descends down a hill with trees and a river way running through the center that they use to bathe and occasionally search through looking for fish and other aquatic life.
Management Difficulties: Ceratosaurus are predators despite not being giant they are still powerful animals that should not be underestimated. They are actually one of the more agreeable theropods with handlers they do not show immediate aggression but humans are within the size range of potential prey so direct interaction is kept to a minimum beyond socialization experiments and feedings. They need to be tranquilized and kept alone for anymore direct interactions.
Individuals:

Charles - Adult Male one of the first dinosaurs collected by the park along with his mate. Named after Othniel Charles Marsh.

Roberta - Adult Female and mate of Charles, it is speculated they had a clutch before so there's hope they'll breed again at some point. Named after keeper.

Gustave - A juvenile male that lives in the Arena while a space is being set up for him in the reach. Was rescued by Rangers after being discovered wounded by an Allosaurus during the mission to recover Tigress. Named after the infamous Crocodile.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Sun Jun 14, 2020 6:51 pm

Species: Dimetrodon limbatus
Era: Early Permian
Appearance: Dimetrodon's appearance is immediately recognizable and iconic, with its massive sail. The mammal-like reptile looks about what modern science predicted it would, proving those who said it would have scales and a complete covered sail correct. The species of Dimetrodon we have stands at about 3 feet in height at the shoulder and is 6 feet long. Females tend to be bigger then males. Both sexes are a light green with yellow-orange motlings with black markings over their eyes and a white underbelly. Males have more colorful sails then females.
Diet: Carnivore (Fed a mix of fish and large pre-killed rodents)
Social Behavior: Mildly social. While not actively social, Dimetrodons tolerate the presence of each other and can frequently be seen sunbathing together and will eat together without much issue if given enough food.
Threat Assessment: Low
Enclosure Type: The Dimetrodons live in a fenced off portion of Paleozoic Swamp, preferring the slightly drier wetlands portion of the enclosure. They spend most of their time basking in the sun or swimming in rivers looking for fish or other aquatic life. They will frequently be seen sleeping on top of each other or right next to each other.
Management Difficulties: Unlike some of the larger wildlife at the park, Dimetrodons are on the easier end. Their care is very similar to that of large reptiles in other zoos like Alligators, Crocodiles, and Komodo Dragons but thankfully without any venom involved. The main thing to be careful of is their incredibly strong and brutal bites that can be incredibly dangerous as a result of their sharp and very serrated teeth, this requires all interaction with them to be performed with their mouths taped up like crocodilians or monitors. The other main issue is sometimes during feeding, fights can break out between Dimetrodons which will have to be separated.
Individuals: While there are 20 Dimetrodons in the park, these four below are the main ones.
Pirate-The biggest and oldest male of the Dimetrodon group. Named for his lack of an eye.
Princess-The biggest and oldest female of the Dimetrodon group. Named by keepers.
Patty-The youngest female of the Dimetrodon group. Named in a contest.
Pete-The youngest male of the Dimetrodon group. Named in a contest.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:02 pm

Species: Edaphosaurus pogonias
Era: Early Permian
Appearance: Resembling their relatives the Dimetrodon, sometimes even being confused for them by guests with their large sails and scaly bodies. Unlike Dimetrodons, Edaphosaurus has a chubby fat body with long sprawled legs and a thin pointed head. The species present in the park is 11 feet long and usually 2 to 3 feet tall at the spine with males being larger than females. Both sexes are dark green with black strikes and yellow spots on their spine. Hatchlings lack the spots allowing them to blend in easier.
Diet: Herbivore (Eat a mixed diet of aquatic vegetation and low-browsing plants)
Social Behavior: Mildly Social. Edaphosaurus are tolerant of each others presence and even gather in psuedo herds but there is no real hierarchy among them usually just a mixed group of males and females that browse together and look out for predators.
Threat Assessment: Low
Enclosure Type: Edaphosaurus are allowed to freely roam the safari area of the Paleozoic Swamp, they prefer the drier wetland which they regularly browse but they are fully capable of swimming. They are content to keep to themselves but sometimes gather near other animals that they feel comfortable around.
Management Difficulties: Edaphosaurus are perhaps one of the easier animals that the Park has among its numbers. They are not very dangerous and have rather calm personalities but as with all animals this does not mean caution is unnecessary. They have powerful tails that they can slap threats with if spooked and are quite strong and nimble when they have burst of energy and are more than capable of wrestling. Their bite is also quite painful from those who have been unlucky in their handling.
Individuals: There are around 40 Edaphosaurus in the park most are unnamed but a few are.

Jumbo - Largest male in the park known for his fat belly and tendency to slide around on inclines. Named by Keepers.

Edna - A mature female known for her especially calm personality often taken out by Keepers for visitor interactions. Named by children's contest.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:04 pm

Species: Pteranodon longiceps
Era: Mid Cretaceous
Appearance: Pteranodons have the most iconic look of any Pterosaur with the males' long crest being a defining trait for them. They look much like scientists imagined, being covered in pycnofibers all over their body while their wings and heads are bare. Males stand at about 4 to 5 feet in height with 18 foot wingspans while females stand at about 2 to 3 feet in height with 12 foot wingspans. Males have the iconic long crests while females have tiny stubbed crests. Both sexes have blue or grey bodies while females have tan crests and males have bright red crests. Chicks look like females until they mature.
Diet: Piscivore (Fed a diet of fish)
Social Behavior: Social. While not actively social in terms of interactions, Pteranodons like to live in massive groups of 20-25 individuals who will fly together. Males and females who have mated in the past also seem to have a liking for one another and will frequently remate.
Threat Assessment: Low
Enclosure Type: Pteranodons live in the aviary alongside other pterosaur species. They are rather docile and don't need to be kept isolated from the smaller pterosaurs or even humans making them a great animal to interact with guests as long as they're kept at a safe distance and the Pteranodons aren't stressed out. They spend most of their time doing enrichment fishing in the artificial river or resting.
Management Difficulties: Pteranodons despite their massive size are rather easy to care for. Their size requires tranquilization for all medical procedures for their safety more then the safety of vets. They are rather docile animals and while somewhat skittish can be tamed easily. The only other issue seen is chicks aren't given parental care and must be taken care of by staff.
Individuals: Currently the park has 25 adult Pteranodons and 10 Pteranodon chicks. The three big individuals are as follows.

Red Crest-The largest male adult Pteranodon in the Park. Named for his massive red crest.

Sky Queen-The largest female adult Pteranodon in the Park. Named by keepers.

Petrie-A new male Pteranodon chick. Named after the Land Before Time's Pteranodon, Petrie.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:50 pm

Species: Smilodon fatalis
Era: Late Pleistocene
Appearance: Smilodon, better known as Saber-Tooth Cats or Saber-Tooth Tigers, are one of the most iconic prehistoric animals of all time and need no introduction. They look much like paleontologists imagined them to though their saber-teeth are uncovered and not protected. Fatalis, the smaller species, stand at about 3 feet in height at the shoulder and are 6 feet in length. In contrast to Populator, Fatalis is more slender and slim. While there is no sexual dimorphism in terms of size, male Smilodon fatalis have small manes and tend to be slightly more muscular.
Diet: Carnivore (Fed a mix of red meat to keep them healthy and lean)
Social Behavior: Highly social, Smilodon fatalis tend to live in groups of 6-8 individuals, usually a male and his mates though sometimes it will be two brothers in charge. They tend to interact much like lions do with similar fights breaking out at times though usually never serious.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: Smilodon fatalis are kept in their own enclosure in Cenozoic Steppe, which is fenced off from the rest of the enclosure with a large and wide trench to further separate the big cats from the rest of the park. Their enclosure is a mix of forest and open plains with high rocks for them to lay on. They tend to move through the forest and open plains at their own disclosure and mood, though females with cubs tend to be more shy. They can frequently be seen sleeping on the large rocks of their enclosure.
Management Difficulties: Smilodon fatalis tend to have the same issues as most big cats in captivity do. As a result of their massive size and predatory nature any veterinary care must be done under tranquilization, and transportation is sometimes an issue as a result of their massive size. Fights also sometimes break-out between members of the pride that must be broken up. Much like other big cats, Smilodon fatalis females seem to show stress over being viewed while they have cubs and prefer their privacy.
Individuals:
Half-Tooth-The large alpha male of the Smilodon fatalis pride. Named as a result of his broken saber-tooth.

Nala-The alpha female of the Smilodon fatalis pride. Named after The Lion King character.

Lindsay-One of the females of the Smilodon fatalis pride. Named after a keeper.

Elsa-One of the females of the Smilodon fatalis pride. Named in a contest.

Rochelle-One of the females of the Smilodon fatalis pride. Named in a contest.

Liz-One of the females of the Smilodon fatalis pride. Named in a contest.

The cubs-Nala's most recent litter of three cubs, they're not yet named.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:52 pm

Species: Smilodon populator
Era:  Pleistocene
Appearance:  Smilodon is one of the most iconic Ice Age animals and needs no introduction, with its very appearance being able to identify it. Smilodon populator one of the species present in the park has a robust body with a large heavyset build and are one of the largest big cats with a height of around 47 inches, just shy of 4 feet tall with males and females being relatively equal in size. S. populator have a bright tan coat with a white underbelly which is marked with dark brown spots. Cubs are a similar color but they have black stripes.
Diet: Carnivore (Primarily red meat especially from bison)
Social Behavior: Anti-Social. S. populator unlike their relatives are solitary and usually avoid contact save for males and females with the intent of mating after mating though the pair will part ways though male Smilodons recognize their offspring and will inspect them.
Threat Assessment: High
Enclosure Type: S. populator are kept in a solitary enclosure within the Cenozoic Steppe. It is a dug out trench that leads into a  forest area that is fenced off with enough space for the Smilodon to roam and a cave for them to hideaway in. On occasion a populator might be taken to the Arena into an internal habitat away from public viewing for medical exams and in case of high stress levels.
Management Difficulties:  Smilodon populator are extremely large and powerful predators that are more than capable of killing a human even if they are not Smilodon's primary play. Because of their sheer size and powerful extreme caution is used when caring for them and direct physical interaction is strictly forbidden unless the Smilodon in question is tranquilized.
Individuals:

Shere Khan - Adult Male populator and the largest big cat in the world often his claim to fame. Named by contest despite not being a tiger.

Sabor - Adult Female popular and the second largest big cat she is Shere Khan's mate. Named by contest despite also not being a lion or a leopard.

Sabor's cubs - Sabor currently has four cubs named Mufasa, Simba, Kala and Scar. Named by a sponsor.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:36 am

Species: Elasmosaurus platyurus
Era: Late Cretaceous
Appearance: Elasmosaurus is a member of the Plesiosaur family, one of the most iconic groups of ancient animals ever. Elasmosaurus like all plesiosaurs have long necks, four flippers, and a paddle-like tail with a head full of sharp teeth. Both sexes are 34 feet in length, most of that coming from their neck, and they are either a light blue or grey color with white underbellies.
Diet: Piscivore (Fed a diet of fish, squid, and soft shell crustaceans)
Social Behavior: Highly social, Elasmosaurs travel in groups of about 5-10 individuals never seen too far apart from each other. There is no clear hierarchy though they are usually an even mix of male and female members, with them usually mating with each other.
Threat Assessment: Low
Enclosure Type: The Elasmosaur group is kept within one of the tanks at the Aquarium where they are allowed to swim freely in the sealed off part of the ocean with the other suitable marine life. As a result of their docile nature, they are allowed to be swam with and can be fed by guests. They tend to prefer warmer waters to colder ones.
Management Difficulties: Elasmosaurs are as a whole incredibly easy and simple despite the usual challenges of keeping marine life. As a result of their massive size and aquatic nature, veterinary care is a challenge so special lifts have been placed around the enclosure to lift them up have been used, as well as training with fish and squid to reward them for interaction. The other main issue with Elasmosaurs as a whole is they have to be watched during feeding time to make sure they're not bullying other animals for food. Specifically to female Elasmosaurs, during pregnancy they must be watched and observed during labor to make sure that the mother and her calf aren't in distress to avoid death on both parties.
Individuals:
Champ-The main male of the Elasmosaur group. Named after the alleged Plesiosaur of Lake Champlain.

Nessie-The main female of the Elasmosaur group. Named after the alleged Plesiosaur of Loch Ness.

Ogopogo-A male of the Elasmosaur group. Named after the alleged sea monster of Lake Ogopogo.

Chessie-A female of the Elasmosaur group. Named after the alleged Plesiosaur of Chesepeak Bay.

Issie-A female of the Elasmosaur group. Named after the alleged Plesiosaur of Lake Ikeda.

Nemp-The male calf of Champ and Nessie. Named by keepers.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:48 am

Species: Quetzalcoatlus northropi
Era: Late Cretaceous
Appearance: Quetzalcoatlus are immediately recognizable as the largest flying animals in the world among the largest of the pterosaurs. They look much like how scientist predicted, tall long necked pterosaurs with massive wings and long pointed heads. They are quite large with a wingspan of 30+ feet and a standing height of 9 feet comparable to a giraffe in scale. Both sexes have white pycnofibers covering their bodies with black stripes on their faces, their wing membrane is a vibrant mix of blue and yellow with individual patterns that identify them to others and finally their heads have red crests. Females have duller crest than males who are a brighter red. Chicks have small brown crest.
Diet: Carnivore (Quetzalcoatlus are primarily land stalkers so they are fed a large diet of red meat, poultry and pre-killed rodents as food which is littered around their feeding ground for exercise and enrichment)
Social Behavior: Social. While not incredible social animals Quetzalcoatlus seem to prefer the company of others of their kind and they commonly travel in groups of 5 or more stalking the ground in search of food. It is speculated this is a survival tactic with their size and numbers warding off threats like large theropods.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: Quetzalcoatlus live in the aviary like the rest of the pterosaurs but they are kept in their own enclosure known as the Quetzalcoatlus Field a large grassy field which is protected by a tall netted roof that has sufficient space for the Quetzalcoatlus to roam and stretch their wings and legs without flying off. There is a river which flows through it and there's ways to remove the roof to allow the Quetzalcoatlus space to fly but such activity is closely monitored.
Management Difficulties: Quetzalcoatlus are perhaps one of the more unique challenges to the park. They are not overtly a danger to humans as adults are too large to be considered prey but children and infants are just small enough that they must be kept away from guests behind glass in the viewing areas. One of the most difficult measures with Quetzalcoatlus is managing flight it was initially assumed due to their sheer size they would avoid flying and spend most of their time on the ground. This is partly true but Quetzalcoatlus grow incredibly stressed if they go long periods without flight and become aggressive and irritable. But a successful enrichment experiment showed that if allowed to go out for long flights they will return to what they consider their home thus Quetzalcoatlus are the only animals permitted to go off park grounds.
Individuals:

Smaug - Largest and most dominant male in the park. Named after the fictional dragon.

Maleficent - Largest female in the park. Named by sponsor.

Fafnir - One of the males, (in)famous for being the only animal to ever escape the park during his rescue and was not recovered until he was found chasing sheep in the mountains of Ireland. Named after mythical dragon.

Apep - One of the females. Named after egyptian mythology.

Nidhogg - A male juvenile that was rescued with Apep, possibly one of her chicks as he stays near her but considered unlikely as pterosaurs do not rear their young. Named after norse mythology.

The Clutch - 5 Chicks born to Maleficent and Smaug currently unnamed composed of three females and two males.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:00 am

Species: Mammuthus primigenius/Woolly Mammoth
Era: Late Pleistocene
Appearance: Woolly Mammoths are some of the most iconic prehistoric animals and need no introduction. Their hairy Elephant visage is a fundamental part of human history and culture, and they look about as expected. They have the signature hump and small ears and very bushy fur. Males are 8.9-11.2 feet tall at the shoulder while females are 8.5-9.5 feet tall at the shoulder. They come in a surprising amount of colors including black, brown, blonde, and even ginger. Calves tend to be the color of their mothers.
Diet: Herbivore (A mix of grass, flowers, shrubs moss, and tree leaves are the main diet though fruit is often given as treats and enrichment)
Social Behavior: Highly social. Woolly Mammoths, much like Elephants, live in herds of both genders. Females live in herds of about 6-10 members with their calves who are led by a matriarch while males live in bachelor herds of about 4-6 individuals who will sometimes mingle with females during mating season.
Threat Assessment: Medium for females, High for males
Enclosure Type: To avoid stress, the two herds of Woolly Mammoths are kept separate. Females are kept in their own space in the Cenozoic Steppe enclosure where they're free to walk around and feast as they please while males are kept on the opposite side of the enclosure and are fenced off in their own special area.
Management Difficulties: As with all Elephant species in the park, the main difficulty with Woolly Mammoths is having to keep males and females separate. This is to avoid stress and possible injury from excessive mating. Woolly Mammoths also come with all the issues that Elephants in captivity do and must be kept exercised and suitably sustained mentally. Woolly Mammoths as a result of their size are also difficult to transport so all veterinary activity is done in their enclosure. Another big issue with Woolly Mammoths is keeping them cool in the Florida heat. To avoid this they are frequently given hair cuts and if the temperate is too extreme they are taken to a specialized part of the Cenozoic Steppe area to cool off. During mating season males also get extremely aggressive and must be given their space. Thankfully since the herds came through already formed there is no conflict between them and they get along nicely.
Individuals:
Grandma-The matriarch of the female Woolly Mammoth herd. Affectionately named that by keepers.

Jenny-A member of the female herd. Named after a keeper.

Marsha-A member of the female herd. Named after a keeper.

Martha-The sister of Marsha and a member of the female herd. Named in conjunction with Marsha.

Miffy-A sister of Marsha and Martha and a member of the female herd. Named in conjunction with Marsha.

Minnie-A member of the female herd. Named after a sponsor.

Billy-The male calf of Jenny. Named in a contest.

Grandpa-The leader of the male herd. Named by keepers affectionately to fit with Grandma.

Grim-A more solitary member of the male herd. Named by keepers.

Grin-A friendly member of the male herd. Named by keepers in conjunction with Grim.

Alan-A member of the male herd. Named after a keeper.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:24 am

Species: Parasaurolophus walkeri
Era: Mid Cretaceous
Appearance: Parasaurolophus is one of the most iconic duck-billed, otherwise known as Hadrosaurs, Dinosaurs with their massive crests cementing their fame. They look about the same as how science imagined them. Males and females stand at about the same size, being 31 feet long and 16 feet tall at the hip. They come in a wide variety of colors with their base color being either tan, green, orange, or grey with pink or orange stripes and their crests being either black or pink. Even females have these bright colors though grey seems to be more common among females then males. Their calves don't have crests until they grow.
Diet: Herbivore (Given a wide variety of plants and allowed to freely graze, frequently given fruit as treats)
Social Behavior: Highly social, Parasaurs tend to travel in large groups of 25-50 individuals. These herds are led by an alpha male and female pair who coordinate with the rest of the group. Their loud honking and songs are used to communicate with the rest of the herd and their numerous colors seem to be for easier identification with each other.
Threat Assessment: Low
Enclosure Type: The Parasaur herd is allowed to roam around Mesozoic Reach of their own free will, going wherever they're allowed to together. They are frequently seen grazing in the fields or swimming and bathing in the river. However when they're not doing either they seem to prefer the wetlands and marshes area for their downtime.
Management Difficulties: Despite being overall quite simple animals, the main issue with Parasaurs is their size as with many species of Resurrection Park. As a result of this transportation is difficult so all veterinary care is done in their exhibit and under tranquilization to avoid injury. They have a tendency to stampede and be skittish so all tour vehicles must drive slowly near them to avoid startling. Females will also be very protective of their eggs so removing them must be done carefully and to avoid breaking the bond females have with their young. They are also incredibly noisy animals which have resulted in some complaints from guests at night.
Individuals: There is a herd of 30 Parasaurs in Mesozoic Reach but these are the most important members.
Pinky-The Alpha Male of the Parasaur herd. Named for his signature pink crest.

Blip-The Alpha Female of the Parasaur herd. Named in a contest.

Ducky-One of the calves of Pinky and Blip. Named after the Saurolophus in The Land Before Time, Ducky.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:32 am

Species: Utahraptor ostrommaysi
Era: Early Cretaceous
Appearance: Utahraptors are one of the largest known dromaeosaurids. Often compared to the famous Velociraptors of the Jurassic Park franchise with their heavyset builds. They are quite large standing at 5.9 to 6.6 feet tall at the shoulder and are 15 feet in length at maturity. As with all dromaeosaurs they are covered in feathers with only their heads, feet and portions of their hands uncovered. Both sexes have a brown scales and bright tan, red, white or black feathers with spotted patterns reminiscent of a big cat with long black feathers on their tail and they have distinct crest feathers on their head, males have bright white crests while females have black crests. Chicks are a plain tan color with no crests.
Diet: Carnivore (Fed a diet of rich red meat and poultry)
Social Behavior: Social. Utahraptors like all dromaeosaurs have been found to be very social animals that live in small packs with a hierarchy, usually around 6 to 10 individuals at most. Curiously while female Utahraptors do not feed their chicks they escort them while they hunt for their own food and protect them from threats and strangers.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: Utahraptors are kept in a fenced off portion of the Mesozoic Reach kept in a small trench with a bathing pool around the main area is compose of a mix of forest and patches of grassland where they can freely roam around and run.
Management Difficulties: Utahraptors have the same difficulties as any large predator in that they must be treated with great caution to avoid injury to animals and humans alike. While there were concerns from media speculation it appears dromaeosaurs are no more aggressive than any other theropod in fact keepers often remark positively on how tame and well behaved Utahraptors are even following commands which allows keepers to separate them from the pack so they can receive direct contact. They are often used as ambassador animals in the arena where they are sometimes brought out to show the intelligence and safety of the park's dinosaurs.
Individuals:

Big Red - Alpha female of the Utahraptor Pack and the eldest. Named after a book character.

Clicker - Alpha male of the pack. Named for his tendency to stamp the ground with his toe claw.

Scarface - Male member of the pack distinct for his large eye scar. Named by contest.

Jazz - Female member of the pack known for her excitable nature. Named after the Utah Jazz basketball team.

Shinobi - Male member of the pack. Named by contest.

Kunoichi - Female member of the pack. Named by contest.

Hooper - Male Juvenile offspring of Big Red and Clicker, often seen at his mother's side. Named after child of keeper.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:34 am

Species: Coelodonta antiquitus/Woolly Rhinoceros
Era: Late Pleistocene
Appearance: Woolly Rhinos are an iconic part of the Ice Age and are very well-known with their furry visage and humped shoulders. They look as science imagined them to. Unlike their cousin the Elasmotherium, they have two large horns on their skull. Males and females are both 9.8 to 12.5 feet long and 6.6 feet tall at the shoulder. They come in a variety of colors such as black, brown, blonde, and ginger.
Diet: Herbivore (Fed a mix of grass, conifers, moss, flowers, willows, and moss)
Social Behavior: Solitary. While not minding other members of their species, Woolly Rhinos tend to self-isolate and roam on their own only coming together to mate or when a female has a calf. Males will sometimes duel for supremacy for mating rights but these tend to be handled peacefully.
Threat Assessment: High
Enclosure Type: Woolly Rhinos are given free reign of the Cenozoic Steppe exhibit, being allowed to roam as they please. They prefer the open plains areas of the Cenozoic Steppe though they will on occasion be seen in the forested areas. Interestingly enough they give each other a wide berth, seeming to have established their own territories and seem to favor being around the female Woolly Mammoth herd.
Management Difficulties: The main issue with Woolly Rhinos beyond their obvious size is their aggression. While able to be left to roam on their own, they are incredibly aggressive if approached. This means all veterinary care must be done while tranquilized and preferably in their enclosure. They also have the common issues of Rhinos in captivity so their foot care is given extra priority. Tour vehicles are advised to give them a wide berth and to view them from afar for the safety of guests and the rhinos. They have also not yet bred on their own for unknown reasons.
Individuals:
Willy-One of the two male Woolly Rhinos. Named by keepers.

Wilson-The other male Woolly Rhino. Named by keepers.

Wilma-One of the two female Woolly Rhinos. Named by keepers.

Violet-The other female Woolly Rhino. Named in a contest.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Tue Jun 16, 2020 1:49 am

Species: Styracosaurus albertensis
Era: Mid Cretaceous
Appearance: One of the most iconic Ceratopsians (Horned Dinosaurs) of all time, Styracosaurus' giant nasal horn and incredibly spiked frill is instantly recognizable. They look much like science imagined them to, complete with keratin covered skulls. Both males and females are 18 feet long and are 5.9 feet at the shoulder. Males tend to be green with orange heads with females tend to be grey with dull yellow heads. Calves look like females until they mature.
Diet: Herbivore (Fed the same diet as our other Ceratopsians, that being Palms, Cycads, and Ferns with flowers and fruit being given as treats and for enrichment.)
Social Behavior: Massively social, Styracosaurs live in massive herds of 40-50 members. They are mixed herds with no clear leader. During the mating season males will fight with each other but these fights tend to be broken up easily and are non-deadly.
Threat Assessment: Low for Females, Medium for Males
Enclosure Type: Our Styracosaurus herd is kept in the Mesozoic Reach Enclosure where they have full reign of it. With their massive amount of individuals they occupy a lot of the wetland areas of the enclosure though they will be frequently seen by the river drinking or wallowing and on occasion in the forests.
Management Difficulties: While Styracosaurs are large, their size compared to other animals makes them surprisingly easy to move and their good temperament overall helps with that. However, to avoid any risk they are still tranquilized during all veterinary care and tend to be treated in their enclosure. Despite being good natured, if they feel threatened they do have a tendency to charge or stampede so tour vehicles must take measures to be at a safe distance and to not cause the herd any alarm. On occasion during mating season fights between males will get too aggressive and will need to be broken up but this is uncommon. The amount of Styracosaurs also requires a lot of food to keep them fed.
Individuals: The current Styracosaur herd is a massive herd of fifty individuals but the three listed below are the most noticeable members.

Leonidas-The biggest and oldest male in the herd, has scars from fighting predators. Named by keepers.

Helen-The biggest and oldest female in the herd, seems to be Leonidas' preferred mate. Named by keepers.

Harry-Helen's current male calf. Named in a contest.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:01 am

Species: Spinosaurus aegyptiacus
Era: Cretaceous
Appearance: Spinosaurus is perhaps one of the most distinctive and immediately recognizable theropod dinosaurs. They match the expectations of scientists like Nizar Ibrahim, they are short legged with webbed feet and have large hands with long claws that cling close to their long serpentine body with a large paddle-like tail. Spinosaurus are the largest theropod dinosaurs, they can reach lengths up to 50 feet in length. Male Spinosaurus have a bright blue upper body and a tan underbelly with red marks on their eyes, muzzle and crest. Female Spinosaurus are a dull grey with a patchy red upper body with a white stripe running down their body. Both genders have individual patterns on their sail shaped humpbacks which identifies them. Spinolings are the same color as females.
Diet: Carnivore/Primarily Piscivore (Spinosaurus eat a massive amount of fish which is supplemented with red meat and poultry to enrich their diet as their is a lack of the giant species they once ate)
Social Behavior: Semi-Social. Spinosaurus are usually solitary but adults mate for life and stick together to protect and rear their young Spinolings.
Threat Assessment: Medium-High
Enclosure Type: Spinosaurus unlike most dinosaurs are kept in the Aquarium. This is because it was determined placing a outdoor swamp enclosure would lead to escape attempts and potentially unneeded stress. So an expansion was made to the Aquarium with a massive pool and island made to replicate an ancient mangrove swamp known as the Spinosauruus Lagoon which can be viewed from platforms and passed by on boat tours.
Management Difficulties: Spinosaurus are truly massive predators and their large size and aquatic built bodies makes their transportation difficult to say the least. They are somewhat unpredictable animals on the shore when they rarely go on land they are quite passive at times even seem rather tame but in water they can get instinctively prey driven which can lead toward aggression towards keepers. Attempts have been made to try and train the Spinosaurs but their prey drive is incredibly strong. Exercise and enrichment is also a difficulty as Spinosaurus require engagement and interactions to keep them entertained. They seem to benefit from being in the presence of human activity it is speculated it is reminiscent of the heavy land traffic that was present in their native time.
Individuals:

Leviathan - Adult Male of the two adults. Named by contest.

Tiamat - Adult Female, mate of Leviathan. Named by sponsor.

The Spinolings - The offspring of Leviathan and Tiamat found during their discovery. Their names are Huey, Duey and Louie their genders haven't been confirmed.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by TalesofNine Fri Jul 03, 2020 4:13 pm

Species: Coelophysis bauri
Era: Triassic
Appearance: Coelophysis resemble what science expected of these curious early dinosaurs. They are lithe and slender theropods that have an almost serpentine body. They stand no taller than 2 to 3 feet and are 9 feet in length, males and females are similar in height but males are skinnier than females. Curiously their coloration resembles Leopard Geckos, they have a bright yellow upper body and a white underbelly with black spots dotting their body with their tails possessing black ringed stripes, males have red spots on their muzzles while females have no spots. Juveniles are a pink color.
Diet: Carnivore (Coelophysis are unpicky eaters and are fed a mixed diet of red meat, fish and pre-killed rodents and reptiles for food. They are also quite helpful for keeping invasive animals out of the park eating large insects and rodents)
Social Behavior: Social. Coelophysis have been a subject of debate for some time in Paleontology, our findings from expeditions have found that Coelophysis do indeed congregate in large numbers, their social behavior is comparable to Penguins in that while they do not pack hunt they claim a large patch of territory as their nesting grounds and social territory where they interact and protect their nest from threats.
Threat Assessment: Low
Enclosure Type: Coelophysis are kept in a fenced off portion of the Mesozoic Reach however they are sometimes allowed to venture outside of their and into the free roam area one of the few carnivores allowed to do so because they primarily prey on small animals and tend to be rather flighty by nature making them avoid the herbivores and not disturb them. On rare occasions when the park is closed the Coelophysis are allowed to roam the park being carefully guided by staff where they curiously explore the facilities and other animals.
Management Difficulties: Despite their large size Coelophysis are surprisingly docile animals, they only consider small animals prey and while curious of humans they tend not to grow aggressive. But this does not mean they can be approached haphazardly or recklessly. Coelophysis Keepers must maintain a strong bond with the pack and ensure that they are seen as members of the community so that the Coelophysis do not grow hostile. They can also be prone to being flighty and are easily startled by unfamiliar objects which can lead to stress so they must be carefully introduced to unfamiliar things and allowed to investigate at their own pace.
Individuals: There are roughly twenty Coelophysis in the park currently. A few of the standouts are.

Spots - Largest and most dominant female in the pack. Named by Children's contest.

Stripes - Largest male in the pack, mate of Spots.

Coco - The youngest Coelophysis in the park that was with the pack when they were recovered. Named by Keepers.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Mulder Fri Jul 03, 2020 5:31 pm

Species: Raphus cucullatus/Dodo bird
Era: 1400s
Appearance: Dodos have an iconic appearance, being one of the most well known recently extinct animals. They have large hooked beaks, wide eyes, and blue or grey feathers. As expected by science, they are not quite as fat as depicted in art and models with the weight seeming to have been from captivity. Males stand at about 3 and half feet in height with longer beaks while females stand at about 3 feet in height with shorter beaks. Chicks have similar feathers to adults, being very large in size
Diet: Omnivores (Fed a mix of fruits, seeds, nuts, roots, and crustaceans)
Social Behavior: Mildly social. While Dodo Birds don't require other members of their species to be happy, they don't mind them and will frequently be seen cuddling, grooming, or nesting together. However males have to be kept separate from each other as they will fight over females.
Threat Assessment: Low
Enclosure Type: The Dodos are kept in two personalized coops in the Arena, being one of the permanent species kept there. They are given two coops to avoid male fighting with each coop having one male and five females respectively. They are kept in a warm environment to mimic the environment of their island home. As suggested, their main sleeping area is their chicken-esque coop but their pens give them wide areas to roam around in.
Management Difficulties: Dodos are overall one of the easiest animals kept at Resurrection Park, being content to eat, sleep, and lay rather then fight as long as males are kept separately. They have sharp beaks and can be quite nippy if they feel threatened but they are overall very easy going animals with no sense of danger or fear mostly. They can get quite defensive of their eggs and young but with long time keepers their guard is down. Sometimes they get agitated by too much handling so handling time is limited with the 12 dodos being cycled through appropriately. Infrequently there are noise complaints in regards to them.
Individuals: There are twelve Dodos in total in the park these are some notable members-
Dody-One of the two male Dodos, he was named by keepers.

Dot-Dody's main mate. Named in a contest.

Lewis Caroll-The other male Dodo, named by keepers after the famous author.

Alice-Lewis Caroll's main mate, named after Alice from Alice In Wonderland.

The eggs-10 eggs from each female that have yet to hatch, they took time to be laid with the Dodos having to adjust to their new environment before feeling comfortable enough to mate and lay. Unnamed as of yet.

Resurrection Park: Live Once Again Empty Re: Resurrection Park: Live Once Again

Post by Prime Spinosaur Tue Aug 18, 2020 11:31 pm

Species: Albertosaurus libratus? (AKA Gorgosaurus?)
Era: Cretaceous
Appearance: Albertosaurus libratus? (up for debate still) stands at 9 feet tall at the hip, they are incredibly long legged animals, and reach a maximum length of 32 feet. They are lithe, built for far more nimble actions. They are covered in feathers that during the winter turn white with O shaped spots and in the summer become a brick brown red color. They have black pebbly skin, and regardless of gender, all have a pair of ornamental hornlets that curve up and towards the snout, each varying in shape and color depending on the individual, though these are usually bright colors. In Males the color continues from the Hornlets onto their snout ridges. Both the Hornlets and snout ridges are covered in keratin and smooth to the touch like a fingernail.
Diet: (Frequently fed high amounts of poultry and red meat to try to simulate a natural diet)
Social Behavior: Albertosaurus libratus are highly social animals, they constantly make noise and affirm familiar bonds by grooming with their claws, or by putting their hornets against one another's (though this form seems to be far more intimate). A Terror of Albertosaurs is not necessarily a family group, though you are bound to find more family members of one than just an assortment of random Albertosaurs.

They are ruled by a Matriarch or Patriarch, depending on whom, which is the eldest amongst the group, who uses their experience to lead a pack.
Threat Assessment: Medium
Enclosure Type: These Albertosaurs are of an arctic variant and due to their feathers do not blend well with Florida's climate. So a semi polar enclosure was built for them in a large forested area. The best way to describe the region would be Washington State, large forests and an open field where they run around chasing each other or taking in the sunrays.

Later on a cretaceous flower was introduced (see difficulties).
Management Difficulties: There are close to 20 individuals within the Albertosaurus pack, this means managing almost two dozen 2 tonned predators. In total weight they equal up to five adult tyrannosaurs. These animals are constantly moving about and are always in need of constant stimulation.

They are safer to approach than the Tyrannosaurs, however, they are also more prey-oriented than the tyrannosaurs as well. The feeders claim that some individuals are safer to approach than others and it takes understanding who you are faced with to make a decision.

They occasionally get into fights, though not as bloody as the tyrannosaurs, there has been a situation involving an individual in the pack that actually tried to leave the territory and break out of the enclosure. This is how we'd come to understand that Albertosaurs if they have a disagreement can leave a group to strike out on their own or find another group to join. It's theorized that in the future, some of the juveniles will also try this, and that unfortunately multiple enclosures might need to be made.

The other problem arose when the Albertosaurs started eating weeds and getting stick. Scientists were confused as there seemed to be no reason that a obligate carnivore to eat the weeds until the animals started to fall into depressive states when not eating plants. A second expedition was made to Alaska 75mya and it was observed that Albertosaurs would eat a specific flower packed full of specific vitamins that Albertosaurus normally didn't get through a carnivorous diet that help it through the rigorous night and day cycles of the arctic. At first, there was an attempt to add the vitamins into the meat the animals were being given but they would still continue to try and eat weeds occasionally.

Eventually a few of these flowers were brought over to the enclosure and planted. The keepers constantly have to check to make sure none of these plants end up outside the enclosure as there is worry that they might harm Florida's ecosystem potentially.
Individuals:

Mango-The Matriarch, she's around 60 years old and is the largest Albertosaurus on record, almost the length of a male tyrannosaur. She is one of the most approachable of the pack, and tends to ignore humans that come near her, or to treat them like a minor pest. High hornlets with a orangeish yellow tint.
Tangerine-An adult male, potentially a son of Mango's judging by similarity in appearance. Does not chase after humans, but get agitated if they reach within3 meters of him. High Hornlets with a reddish yellow tint.
Cherry-An adult female, Jaqque's mate. More sociable than her mate or even the Matriarch, still one needs to be cautious around Cherry, she does not take things she interprets as acts of aggression well and does not allow anyone that isn't a pack member near her two juveniles. Dark red hornlets that are sharp.
Pear-The second oldest of the Albertosaurs, a 50 year old individual, he mock attacks humans all of the time, and has a habbit of charging the vehicles. Pear has been known to injure individuals, but has never killed anyone. Green hornlets that curve lower.
Lemon-Tangerine and Cherry's oldest daughter, and then most agressive towards humans. She is at the cusp of being full grown, and will stalk any humans that come within her sights. Yellow Hornlets that are sharp.
Apple-Tangerine and Cherry's ten year old son. He and the other younglings are the most approachable of the Albertosaurs even going as far as to play with humans. High deep red hornlets.
Lime-An adult male that left the pack to go find territory of his own. After his escape, he was brought to the arena where he now lies in a solitary enclosure. He gets more and more depressed by the day. There is a plan to try and reintroduce him to the pack, if that doesn't work another enclosure for a separate pack will have to be made or Lime will have to be returned to his proper time period...
